The Thales Elegance is a high-quality turntable matching all our tonearms perfectly. Basic research has enabled us to perfect the belt-drive system by a unique arrangement of its parts. This achieves a precise, well-founded and harmonious reproduction quality that was previously not possible in such a refined device. Obviously, such compact design enables a mechanical stability that could not be achieved with a more expansive concept. Each of the 135 parts has been carefully designed to perform its function in the overall concept perfectly.
While playing a record on a turntable, the platter and drive are affected by dynamic impact of the tracking process. The Thales Elegant is equipped with two unique solutions to minimise such negative influence. First, an eddy current brake applies a relatively high, speed-dependent braking torque directly to the platter. This enables precise control of the drive motor by means of a simple current limiter and a minimum of corrective actions. Second, the axis of the electric motor is arranged horizontally so that vibrations occurring in the direction of rotation around the platter axis have no negative influence on the drive unit.
The battery pack of the newest generation (peak capacity 100 W) offers 16 hours of listening independent of the mains supply. Every effort was made to perfect materials and manufacturing of the drive, the main bearing, and the platter for this outstanding turntable. The Thales Elegance rests on adjustable, decoupled feet, keeping vibrations effectively away from the tracking process.
